Katie has a lifelong enthusiasm for learning. As a young girl and as with most children, she had a healthy curiosity for everything in her surroundings. This inherent desire to get answers made her a perfect candidate to travel along the scientific path in school. With that in mind, Katie focused on becoming a straight-A student, and later attended the University of Toronto, studying Molecular Genetics and Biology towards an Honours B.Sc. degree.
Along the way, she realized that she could not envision herself devoting 8 additional years in medical school, and she was definitely too social to be stuck in a science lab all day long. Towards the end of her undergrad years, a friend introduced Katie to a private tutoring company in the Beaches area of East Toronto. Katie started to work there part time during her last year at university. This part-time job eventually turned into a full-time career when Katie realized how much she enjoyed working with other students and helping them to achieve their academic objectives.
Katie also has experience teaching in a classroom setting for a private school in Toronto. After 4 years, she decided to leave the pressures and administrative politics behind and get back to the basics of teaching. In 2012, Katie decided to start her own private tutoring business and Affinity Tutoring was born! She travels around the GTA helping out students regain their abilities and confidence in all aspects related to academics.
